"Heritage-ism" -is that a hate crime?

Apparently, since I nor my sister are pure bloods, we have no heritage and therefore no history to claim. -This according to her coworkers at Disney's Animal Kingom. My father is Indian -from India, though he was born in the West Indies. My mother is European -mostly English and Spanish. This of course means that dear Sissy and I, along with our siblings, are all of the above.

Now, not that I'm saying that every DAK cast member is gonna, you know, have the same ideals as the Walt Disney Company... But still. The irony that it's at DAK, of all parks -and during their 'Celebrating Diversity Month,' too... (a cast members only thing) DAK is like... I dunno, the living equivillant to The Lion King? The Tree of Life is their centerpiece. They focus on living together in harmony with everyone -INCLUDING animals, naturally. (Thus the ANIMAL Kingom.) Acceptance is huge there.

But I also found it ironic that it happened because, what do you know? All the cast members saying this claim European heritage of some odd or another. Meaning yes, they're all white.

Now I'm no racist, or... heritage-ist... whatever. The subject of whether or not there is white racism was just risen here. I say duh, of course there's white racism. Every race has had to endure some sort of discrimination, if not slavery. Just look back through the pages of history.

It's just that it kinda' sucked in that respect. I mean, litterally, just the other day, I was defending "them" based on the color of their skin, but then yesterday, it was like a slap in the face. -Now, of COURSE not by the entire white race. How on Earth could a handful of people claim to be the spokespersons for so many gazillions of different people tied in likeness only by something completely uncontrolable? Ludacrous. -I'm also aware they didn't and still do not know of my activities, nor thoughts, and many of them don't even know me. However, it's still a slap.

Oh, yeah... And I forgot one of the best parts: they say American is no heritage; America has no heritage.

I mean, rationally... Should I even touch that? ... :paranoid: This thing's quite a bit long already.

I will state this question, however: how long will it be before people are proud to be Americans again? -It seems such a thing hasn't happened since WWII... And even that's cutting it close, remembering how the War ended... People are so afraid to be proud of their, yes, HERITAGE as Americans, now. So instead of admitting they are that which they dispise, they claim there's no such thing... Childish...at best.

I dunno. My opinion of the matter is that I don't have one single heritage; I have several. When I visit my father's side of the family, it's VERY different from visting my mom's side of the family. And still when I go to my immediate family, everything's still different. -I mean, you'd THINK if they were really interested in diversity, they'd ask Sissy all kinds of questions about what it's like to be from 2 completely different universes, you know?

But no.

Racism -heritage-ism - prejudice. That's more important. Pureism...

Alive and well, people.

The only thing I find more intersting is that they actually believe they're pure bloods themselves.
